Puerto Pollensa prettiness and purposes.

As I sit in my room late at night unpacking my suitcase of clothes, which seem to smell of our apartment and holiday somehow, I can’t help but reflect on my gorgeous holiday in Puerto Pollensa. We (me, my mum and stepdad) got back last night and to say the least I didn’t want to come back. We stayed in Puerto Pollensa last year too and during the holiday fell in love with it and started to feel like a local so we knew we had to return again.

Late night cocktails, meals in fairylit courtyards, strolling the streets of Old Pollensa town,Vespa rides at 2am and the sound of crickets whilst you sleep is something I could definitely get used to.

It’s hard to put into words how special this place has become, it has a certain charm and character about it and I feel really at home there. All I can say about it is that I feel a piece of my heart is there and now I’ve returned home my heart won’t have that piece filled until next time. Like a missing jigsaw piece. Sounds clichéy but it’s true, holidays make you think a lot about things at home and your life. What if I did a Shirley Valentine and just left everything behind because I’d found myself and my true happiness, who would miss you, what would you miss, who would care. It really opens your eyes to how amazing the world is and how life is to be explored, maybe not always following paths you expected but it makes you question what really matters to you, the people you have in your life, your passions and purposes.

I wandered around the streets of Puerto Pollensa on my own for the day and usually you may feel out of place or apprehensive about being abroad out on your own, however I felt the absolute opposite, it excited me, made me feel free and I loved it. I felt like I was at home, I felt like I belonged and it made me so happy. It’s interesting how much you find out about yourself when you travel, what makes you feel alive and realise we only have one life and we must live it. It’s so easy to get caught up with the day to day stuff at home and let your wellbeing slip without you even always realising. So it’s good and very important to take time away, distance yourself from things and zone back into yourself and your mental health and happiness. People forget that you need to find your inner happiness and get to know yourself more and more everyday through situations and scenarios as you do change and grow, physically and mentally. And that’s SUCH a great thing. One thing I’ve learnt this year is that deciding on your career and future shouldn’t be pressured and rushed, I know what my passion is and that’s performing but there’s such a pressure these days to just jump into your career and education without learning about yourself and gaining life experiences, much more valuable than writing an essay (but I guess that’s another topic I could do a blog post on haha).

I’ve also learnt to try to live in the present moment rather than stressing about what’s to come, live in the here and now because everything becomes a memory. Enjoy what you’re doing and push yourself out of your comfort zone and if something isn’t making you happy distance yourself and it will all reveal and things will work out how they should. Everything happens for a reason but sometimes we can’t see the reason, but that’s ok.

So I’m going to conclude this with one of my favourite quotes that seemed very apt to how I felt travelling and exploring myself and Puerto Pollensa.

‘Not all who wander are lost’.

Frills, Fashion Shows and Favourites.

Fashion is one of those things that lets you express yourself without saying it in words. It’s an art form and such an unique and exciting thing we have in life. Lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve been living in my work uniform and although it’s all black it’s not a outfit I feel ready to rule the world in (compared to when an all black outfit involving a black high neck, high waist wide leg trousers and boots and feel like Emma Peel minus the gun of course aha!)

So the other day me and my sis https://littleowlblogs.wordpress.com/ (go check her blog and YouTube out, she’s the best) went to a catwalk show in the beautiful Sheffield Cathedral.

Although the fashion wasn’t inspiring and impressive it made me think how much I’d love to be sat front row for Fashion Week Paris,NY and London. One day I hope! And we used the opportunity of stunning architecture to take some photographs. It was so good to have a day where I could wear my own clothes and I remembered how much I love to dress up and explore my own style.

At the moment I’m loving clean white shirts and layering formalwear with other textured items like I’m wearing here this frilled shirt from H&M and black silk pinafore jumpsuit. I am also, as I have been for a while, obsessed with hoop earrings and dark lipstick, this one is called ‘Old Hollywood’ in the Sleek Matte Me lip collection and it has to be one of my faves, because of the colour and the name of it. I wore my hair in two buns and kinda felt like a modern day Minnie Mouse! (Thought of ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ when I typed that, can’t ever get musicals out of my head!)

It’s important to explore your own style and play around with it, it’s amazing how different I feel in myself when I like the outfit I have on,it makes me so much more confident and positive somehow. It’s good to look at celebrities or bloggers or designers for fashion inspiration and you don’t have to spend a lot of money or go to upmarket brands to dress well. I find myself crushing over Margo & Me’s style, she’s a dreamy blogger and youtuber so go check her out if you like Parisienne style and stunning videos about fashion, beauty and lifestyle. I also love Audrey Hepburn style of classic pieces and Lucy Hale’s vintage inspired street style too.

I’m always reading Vogue and looking for new trends and ideas so I thought I’d leave you with this quote. However an issue of Vogue and chocolate go very well hand in hand! X

La Strada review.

From the moment I saw the poster plastered around the Sheffield Lyceum I knew I had to go and see this show. It looked so visual, it intrigued me and looked different and ‘normal is boring’ right?! As I sat down in my seat I couldn’t wait for it to start, however I felt upset to see the Lyceum so empty.

This show is about a girl who gets caught up in an unexpected world after being sold by her mother to a strong man act so she finds herself in the midst of the circus, abuse and her dreams. The minute Audrey Brisson who plays Gelsomina comes on stage it is impossible to take your eyes off her, her bewildered looks and physicality have you hooked. She could just stand on stage and have you crying within two minutes, she plays this character so perfectly with every move and word she speaks so motivated, meaningful and moving. I was in awe. The staging was flawless and I loved how it was so ensemble with the cast multi role playing and playing instruments incredibly, changing set and working as one entity at times almost representing her thoughts and feelings so dramatically and powerfully with movements and it was just engulfing. You felt when watching it as if you were living in this world and going through Gelsomina’s journey with her every step of the way.

The visual effects of the set, lights props really gave the show the atmospheres it needed and the wow factor. Needless to say the captivating and hauntingly beautiful song that is sung throughout made me cry, a few times. I could go on about how incredible I thought this show was but I’d be writing for many hours. But one things for certain I will not be forgetting it any time soon.

I’d travel far and wide to see this show and the fact that the Lyceum was quite empty was so gutting, it deserved to be full, however I was blessed to see most of the audience give a standing ovation,as it truly deserved. Obviously Sheffield people don’t want to take risks in seeing shows they haven’t necessarily heard of! But come on we all had to try Hendersons Relish before we realised how great it is.

Oh my Blog!

Hello world, I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a while so I thought why not bite the bullet and start now, right this second. Felt very inspired at the theatre tonight so it spurred me on to create a blog. Expect theatre reviews and general stageyness, fashion loves and lusts, poems and other things on my little dreamer mind. ♥️
